Maternity leave runs for 20 weeks at 100% of pay — eight weeks before the expected birth date and twelve after — paid by the Caisse nationale de santé rather than the employer, and dismissal protection applies throughout.

Paternity leave (congé de paternité) is 10 working days at 100%, to be taken within two months of the birth; the state reimburses the employer for all but the first two days.

Parental leave is where Luxembourg genuinely diverges: 26 weeks per parent at 100% replacement, delivered as a flat-rate indemnity that replaces the salary rather than a percentage top-up. It can be taken full time, half time, in four separate one-month blocks, or as one day per week over twenty months — flexibility that neither the French nor the Belgian scheme offers at this pay level.

Annual leave stands at 26 working days per year on top of eleven public holidays, and the statutory minimum was raised from 25 to 26 days when Europe Day became a public holiday. Untaken days generally lapse on 31 March of the following year.
